    My opinion about this hotel

    First of all, the hotel is not called \'Protea Hotel Balmoral\' it is called \'The Balmoral\'. It is not part of the Protea Group of hotels, it has been part of the Raya Hotels Group for a number of years. All the contact details given by Destina at the time of booking were incorrect - ie: phone, fax, and email. I eventually found the correct information via the internet. Nevertheless the booking was in fact in order.
    The hotel itself is an old colonial style building; high ceilings, large rooms, etc. with modern fittings, and very comfortable. Ideal location near the seafront, but this was rather spoilt by all the building work being carried out opposite the hotel along the sea front in preparation for the World Cup in 2010. It should be wonderful when finished.
    Breakfast was excellent with an great range of items to choose from. The service was efficient and friendly, with many recruits being trained in the dining room..
    Reception staff were extremely helpful, and hotel security was very good. There is limited car parking space at the rear of the hotel.
    Sadly the weather was not good. It rained all three days we were there, so rather spoilt our sightseeing. We would gladly stay there again.

    I would reccommend this hotel to everyone.
    Service and food are value for money.
    Great wine list.
