Holidays in the coast of Menorca

The wild and picturesque coast of Menorca is a welcome change of pace from the nearby Ibiza and Mallorca. Furthermost east of the Balearic Islands, Menorca offers some 216 km of glittering golden sandy beaches with plenty of attractive waterfront towns and villages in which to laze and watch the world go by.

You can find a wide variety of cheap hotels in Menorca on our website. With a broad range of amenities and services on offer, there's plenty to enjoy when you holiday on the Menorca coast.

Beaches of Coast of Menorca

Menorca is quite literally surrounded by breathtaking beaches. Among its best are:

  • Cala Mesquida: Quiet and timeless, this stretch of beach has deep expanses of sand and a famed gelato truck.
  • Caló Blanc: No sand on this beach, just rocky outcrops and spectacular views over the expansive Mediterranean Sea. You come here for the swimming.
  • Cala Mitjaneta: One of the more popular beaches in Menorca, this beach is small and picture-perfect. Surrounded by forested headlands and whitewashed limestone cliffs, this beach is the stuff of dreams.
  • Cala Trebalúger: Among the quietest of undeveloped beaches, this is a natural paradise. A secret river adds to the natural mysticism.

Tourism in Coast of Menorca

Aside from the spectacular beaches, Menorca's coast offers a number of sights for tourists. Parc Natural S’Albufera des Grau, to the east, is a spectacular nature reserve with fish eagles and coots. For culture vultures, head to historic Maó for the charming Museu de Menorca and Fort de Marlborough. For the best outdoor experience, consider a yacht excursion or kayak experience for the best sea views of the island.

No visit to Menorca is complete without a visit to Binibèquer Vell, however. This romantic fishing village of whitewashed houses and tiny alleys is one of the most picturesque sights.

What to eat in Coast of Menorca

Renowned for its plentiful and fresh seafood, expect a rich variety of fish, including pearly razorfish, stingray, scorpionfish, groupers and sheepsheads. Mussels, calamari and octopus are also prized. There's more to the cuisine than seafood, though. Pork and goat's cheese are particular favourites, best experienced with a glass of local wine.

Feasts and Traditions of Coast of Menorca

Menorca experiences a number of festivals and events throughout the year, from the religions (like the Procession of the Three Knocks, in January) to the celebratory (Carnival at the end of February). Most visitors, however, will enjoy the island's summer fiestas, the celebrations of Saints, which take place throughout June until September.

No matter what you choose to do, a holiday in Menorca booked through Destinia is sure to be the experience of a lifetime.
