Built in 1896 by Benoite and Jean-Marie Soubirous, younger brother of Saint Bernadette, the Grand Hôtel Moderne**** is a jewel of the early XXth Century French architecture. With its amazing “Baroque” frontage and its stylish “Art nouveau” living rooms designed by the famous architect Louis Majorelle, the GHM combines charm, elegance and comfort in the heart of Lourdes. Located at only 50 meters from the Sanctuaries, the hotel offers an easy access to the Grotto and the tourist sites of the city: native house of Bernadette Soubirous, basilicas, fortified castle and museums. Its 106 rooms will be entirely renovated by 2008 (celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Apparitions). All of them are spacious, decorated with a great sense of taste (pieces of furniture of style, bathroom luxuriously appointed in Italian marble and white porcelain) and offer very an high level of comfort (individual heating/cooling controls, high quality bed linen, noise isolation) and safety. Having a look on the amenities, the hotel provides a nice bar and a charming restaurant named the “Majorelle” where you will enjoy a typical French-Italian food in a stylish atmosphere of mouldings, wood and Italian marble from Carrare. Two rooms are also at your disposal for the organization of meetings, seminars, masses or private parties.
